About Project
The Majazi Publication Book Café is a 250-square-meter renovation and adaptive reuse project of an existing villa located on Vesal Street in Tehran’s Enghelab district. Commissioned by Mr. Haghnazari, the project defines a former residential building as a contemporary cultural space focused on books, publishing, and social interaction.
The architectural approach combines a modern and high-tech design language with the existing structure of the villa. Exposed structural elements, precise detailing, and controlled material contrasts are used to create a balance between warmth and industrial clarity. The result is a spatial environment in which contemporary design systems intersect with atmospheric ambiguity, supporting both functional performance and experiential depth.
Design Detail
The design details are developed as an integral part of the architectural system rather than decorative additions. Each detail is defined through precise material junctions, structural clarity, and controlled transitions between surfaces. The integration of lighting, built-in furniture elements, and architectural components is carefully coordinated to support functionality and spatial readability. Shadow, reflection, and material contrast are used as design tools to reinforce spatial depth and orientation.
Furniture Design
A significant portion of the furniture was custom-designed specifically for this project, responding to both its functional needs and its distinctive narrative concept. The pieces combine comfort with sculptural qualities and are carefully positioned to support different experiences, from quiet reading and contemplation to collaborative work and social gathering. Through bespoke forms, rich materials, and meticulous craftsmanship, the furniture becomes an integral part of the storytelling experience, reinforcing the project’s atmosphere of warmth, suspense, and imagination.
