About Project
Nestled in the dense urban fabric of Jamalzadeh Street, one of Tehran’s most historic and bustling central districts, the Marjan Project stands as a testament to intelligent compact living. Designed and executed by Akja Architecture Group for Eng. Montazeri, this 58-square-meter residential unit navigates the challenges of limited space by prioritizing openness and a bold, avant-garde aesthetic, offering a serene escape from the city’s high-energy surroundings.
Interior Design
The interior philosophy revolves around breaking traditional boundaries to create a sense of “boundless” living. By replacing solid partitions with industrial black-framed glass walls, the design maximizes natural light and maintains a continuous visual axis throughout the home. The color palette is a daring dialogue between deep, matte forest green and vibrant, translucent crimson, grounded by raw concrete flooring that echoes the industrial spirit of modern Tehran.
Design detail
Precision is evident in the project’s architectural details, particularly the seamless integration of technical lighting. Sleek black track lights on the ceiling define the circulation paths and accentuate the textures of the materials. Elongated, obsidian-colored figurative sculptures are strategically placed to draw the eye upward, creating a vertical rhythm that balances the wide panoramic window, which frames the urban skyline of Jamalzadeh like a living piece of art.
Furniture Design
The furniture is a curated blend of soft textures and sharp architectural forms. A modular, corduroy-upholstered sofa in a warm oat tone provides flexible comfort, while plush, pebble-like bouclé ottomans introduce organic softness to the living area. The showpiece is undoubtedly the kitchen island a glowing, ruby-red glass monolith that serves as both a dining hub and a central artistic installation, perfectly encapsulating the project’s blend of functionality and high-end design.
